The Evil Queen (Ep. 2.20)

After several episodes I didn't like, this episode does good.  Evil Queen/Regina raises the stakes.  The new villains make their move.  And we're given a key character insight.

Second Star to the Right (Ep. 2.21)

I'm not sure that this episode accomplished much, and I have mixed feelings about it.  The heroes discover the new villains.  The heroes get a minor victory, but also suffer a minor defeat.  And the stakes go up.  We finally see some background for Neil/Baelfire.  But the show doesn't seem ready for a season finale.

Welcome to Storybrooke (Ep 2.17)

Compared to last episode's climactic conclusion, "Welcome to Storybrooke" doesn't seem to cover much ground.  There's a mini-crisis in the present, but most of the episode's substance comes from a flashback to the very first few days of the great curse.  Unfortunately, the result felt flat.

Spoilers follow.

I am a bad blogger...

It's 31 minutes after tonight's episode, "Selfless, Brave and True" has aired, and not only have I not finished my write up for the previous episode, "Welcome to Storybrooke", but I haven't watched tonight's episode either!

So, let's just say I'm on west coast time right now.

At least, my write up for "Welcome to Storybrooke" isn't/won't be tainted by my viewing of tonight's ep.

It's been a hairy week last week. Be assured when you read my write up for Welcome to Storybrooke, it will be free from the influence of tonight's episode and not contain spoilers.

Heee.

For now, enjoy this image of Rumpelstiltskin that  encompasses some of my feelings from "The Miller's Daughter" ....

Feel free to discuss your thoughts on the Rumpelstiltskin character. Now that he has found Baelfire, what are his motivations?? 300 years spend finding something, once that task is complete, what is left?

Storybrooke News... sneak peeks, books and conventions, oh my! (Updated)

Hello fellow oncers!

I have been remiss in my blogging duties (does anyone even read this thing?).

While I catch up (today, I swear, really!) I thought I would pass along some interesting news and information gleaned during my usual Once Upon a Time news trolling expeditions.

Let's peek behind the curtain...

Welcome To Storybrooke!

I guess you could say this is really the doing of The Miller's Daughter, although The Queen is Dead might be to blame as well. But I suppose I'm getting ahead of myself.

"This" is the "Welcome to Storybrooke" blog (and I'm still surprised the name was available), run by myself and my significant other/collaborator, for discussing our thoughts, speculations, ideas (and other miscellany) about the abc show "Once Upon a Time".

It is a place not just to lay down our thoughts, but to promote discussion and, I hope, community.

So why is The Miller's Daughter to blame? The Miller's Daughter is the episode that really introduced me to the incredible fan community the show has, and the amazing interactions, between fans and even fans and the cast.

After the cliffhanger "The Queen is Dead" episode left us with, I, like so many other "Oncers" was eagerly anticipating "The Miller's Daughter". To bide my time while I waited an entire week for it air, I found myself reaching out on the internet for information, clips, and really, whatever I could find to keep myself occupied. At this point, I was utterly entranced, throughly enspelled, and  maybe just a little bit obsessed with the show.
Among my internet wanderings, I came across the official Facebook and twitter feeds for the show, including mention that the cast would be "Tweeting" live during "The Miller's Daughter".

It was more fun than I anticipated, watching the cast of the show tweet their responses to the show as it played, and even more so, watching fans respond back, and interact with each other. Fans cheered and cried, confirmed theories and came up with new ones, together. The sense of community and interaction was as enjoyable as watching the show.

Later that night, discussing the show with my co-host as we always do afterwards, I found myself wanting to share our ideas and theories and thoughts and continue the conversations I had and experienced earlier in the night.

So, here we are.

It is my hope that our posts here start conversation and discussion among fellow Once upon a Time fans.  Let's share thoughts, hopes, theories. We may not always agree, but it's always good to see things from another point of view.

I'll also be posting news and Once Upon a Time related sites that I think are worth sharing. Spoilers will be warned against, so you don't have to worry about checking the site if you haven't seen the most recent episode.
